Hi, neighbors! My name is Kat. I live in Wallingford and have a six-year-old who is starting first grade at BF Day Elementary. Post COVID-shutdown, I started a new job managing Outsider Comics and Geek Boutique in Fremont, and I wanted to invite all of you down to visit us!
We are an independent, women-led, LGBTQ and BIPOC-friendly bookstore and boutique that believes in cheerful geek culture and comic books for everyone, especially traditionally underserved and underrepresented demographics! We sell: Graphic novels, manga, and comic books (floppies, trades, hardcovers) for ALL ages and persuasions. We also offer tabletop and board game supplies, jewelry, accessories, masks, socks, and femme-leaning geeky apparel.
I just yesterday started a back-to-school sale to help keep all of our young readers and adult learners engaged: 20% OFF all kids, young adult, and non-fiction books in the store! Use code BACKTOSCHOOL to purchase items in our online shop if you can’t make it in or aren’t comfortable with in-person retail browsing. We offer curbside and in-store pickup, and shipping. Our COVID-19 safety policies include a four customer limit, social distancing, mask policy (disposable masks and sanitizer offered), and a 20-minute browsing limit if there is a wait.
Like most small businesses, we are struggling to make ends meet in the COVID economy and making only about 40% of our expected sales. I know many of you are trying to shop local to support our community of small-business owners, and we want you to know that we love and appreciate you!

Are you a comics veteran? If you are an avid comics reader mourning the loss of several of our local shops, we would love to be your home! We offer subscription services and pull boxes. Let us order your titles for you or shop our distributor’s catalog directly with our new online subscriber interface.
Are you new to comics and graphic novels? We are happy to provide personalized recommendations or to do personal shopping for you, tailored to your interests. Comics aren’t ONLY superhero stories — you’ll find art books, anthologies, memoirs, nonfiction, mystery, horror, sci-fi, drama, high fantasy, romance, LGBTQ, and non-fiction titles among our offerings. We also offer comics bundles and starter packs. We have something for everyone, kids and adults alike!
Keep your kids preoccupied and work on their visual and language literacy! We have tons of books for early readers, kids, and teens, both fiction and nonfiction.
Find stories to transport you to another world so you can travel in your imagination even when it’s impossible to leave home!
Fight evil by proxy with one of our many social justice or superhero themed comics!
Find a protagonist just like you in our LGBTQ and BIPOC titles! We feature stories and anthologies that center Black, Indigenous, Asian, Latinx, and immigrant communities and characters.
