Outsider Comics and Geek Boutique

Outsider Comics & Geek Boutique is an independent, queer and women-led, LGBTQ and BIPOC-friendly bookstore and boutique that believes in cheerful geek culture and comic books for everyone, especially traditionally underserved and underrepresented demographics! Outsider’s focus is on curating a selection of graphic novels, manga, and comic books (floppies, trades, hardcovers) for all ages and persuasions. Outsider’s secondary focus is on selecting art, clothing, jewelry, accessories, and cosplay supplies that represent geeky fandoms and femme persuasions and that support independent and local creators.
My role: As Retail Operations Manager, I was responsible for hiring, training, and managing staff, educating customers, curating products, managing customer subscriptions, designing store displays, creating and posting content to social media accounts, sending promotional newsletters, and boosting customer contact and conversion during the period immediately following the COVID-19 shutdown.
Impact: Led a team of four to increase engagement and sales utilizing innovative customer outreach and eCommerce strategies during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Implemented new subscription management service and imported prior customer subscriptions from existing database.
My contribution to the selected projects below includes website design updates, photography, copywriting, marketing, and promotion.
