Ascent Outdoors is known for a long-standing reputation (since 1996!) as the friendly and trusted experts in the Seattle outdoors community. We are very proud that our staff continues to be a helpful resource for hikers, climbers, skiers, mountaineers, and many other outdoorspeople from all experience levels and walks of life. We curate our gear selection based on the knowledge and experiences of our staff and guides and make buying decisions based on the needs and tastes of our community. We are dedicated to giving back to the outdoors and our local area through sharing our knowledge, hosting events and fundraisers, and donating to like-minded organizations fostering outdoors conservation and accessibility.

My Role: As Director of Communications and Business Strategy for Ascent Outdoors and Miyar Adventures, I ensure that both businesses operate with aligned communications, marketing, and strategic development. I build and manage multiple local and remote teams, including Customer Service, Web Development, Events, eCommerce Growth, and Internal Communications, while directing and facilitating the research and implementation of customer-centered business processes and solutions. Additionally, I direct the local marketing team on the creation of campaigns, events, and promotions in adherence with the seasonal marketing and social media calendar, and assist with building assets and content for eCommerce, email, and SMS.
Impact: During my tenure at Ascent Outdoors, I developed a company-wide Mission, Vision, and Values, and set of company procedures and policies that centered employee and customer-focused strategies, including Customer Service communications and decision trees, external communication and brand templates, and employee onboarding and training processes. I was also responsible for the research and deployment of environment and user-friendly eCommerce apps, customer programs, and website development that elevated consumer experience and integrated our Mission, Vision, and Values.
